Spider Frenzy Halloween Party Ideas & Party City Product Review

Halloween is one of the most fun occasions to host a party. Party City offers a wide selection of Halloween party supplies for almost any spooky — or not so spooky — theme you can imagine. I planned a celebration for my boys with their cousins and friends, and my mom kindly offered her home to help host. I chose the Spider Frenzy theme because the cute spider decorations were irresistible. It turned out to be a great fit for the twelve kids attending, whose ages ranged from two to thirteen, especially since my boys love spiders.

We received the Spider Frenzy Ultimate Party kit for 16 guests ($99.99), which is an easy way to plan without having to hunt down every supply. The kit included most essentials, though it did not include dessert plates — something I would have ordered separately if I had realized.

The kit covered decorations, plates, cups, flatware, and even a Jack-o’-Lantern pinata with goodies to fill it.

The set included table decorations such as the Spider Frenzy Table Cover and a 27-piece Haunted House Decorating Kit, which added instant atmosphere to our party space.

As usual, my mom and I didn’t skimp on the menu. We served sloppy joes, chowder, deli roll-ups, mummy hot dogs, Halloween Jello shapes and a witch’s brew punch. There was plenty of food to keep everyone satisfied.

For dessert I served an addictive vanilla caramel corn presented in a black-and-orange Party City serving bowl, along with Wilton’s Worms in a Coffin brownies.

My mom baked pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, which I tinted orange and arranged on a four-tier dessert stand using reusable Wilton Halloween picks.

The Jack-o’-Lantern pinata ($14.99) was the evening’s highlight. Because the group included very young children, we hung the pinata lower so everyone could take a turn. That led to a few mishaps: older blindfolded kids repeatedly hit the stem, which eventually tore away from the string. We reattached it a few times, and when that stopped working I shook the candy out from the top. The kids didn’t mind — they dove in and loved grabbing candy and the small plastic toys included with the kit.

The day was enjoyable from start to finish. My mom and I had fun decorating and preparing food while the kids played outside on the trampoline and enjoyed the XBox 360. The Ultimate Party kit simplified planning by including items for treat bags and most of the tableware and décor. I especially liked the 11 ft Happy Halloween fringe banner, which added a festive finishing touch.
