An Easy, No-Bake Peanut Butter Confetti Square Recipe
All you need is a microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup and an 8×8″ baking pan. Melt the butterscotch chips with peanut butter and butter, then pour the mixture over marshmallows. Lining the pan with parchment paper makes removing the bars simple and keeps cleanup easy.

Chill for the Best Butterscotch Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares
- Refrigerate the bars until firm — chilling not only speeds up set time but also improves the texture. Cold bars have a pleasing contrast between the chewy marshmallows and the creamy peanut butter-butterscotch base.
- To prevent the marshmallows from melting when you add the warm mixture, place the marshmallows briefly in the freezer before assembling. This small step helps keep them plump and distinct in the finished bars.
Confetti Square Ingredient Notes
- Marshmallows: Mini marshmallows work best. White or coloured minis are both great — colourful fruity marshmallows give a playful flavour and appearance.
- Peanut Butter: Use a smooth, flavorful creamy peanut butter. A salted variety complements the butterscotch nicely; avoid gritty natural-style nut butters for this recipe.

Peanut Butter Butterscotch Squares (aka Classic Confetti Squares!)
Ingredients
- 1 bag butterscotch chips (10 oz or 300 g)
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows (white or coloured)
Instructions
-
Combine butterscotch chips, peanut butter and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup. Microwave at 50% power for 2 minutes, remove and stir, then microwave another 1 minute at 50% power. Stir until smooth and let cool slightly.
-
Line an 8×8″ square baking pan with parchment paper and add the marshmallows. If desired, chill the marshmallows briefly beforehand so they don’t melt.
